Nirmala case: Former SP Dilliraj Bista gets clean chit along with 7 police personnel

Eight policemen accused of destroying evidence in  Nirmala Pant  rape and murder case got clean chit by the Kanchanpur District Court.

After the decision passed by the district court will they be reinstated? Former  Superintendent of Police (SP) Dilliraj Bista and the Chief of the Ward Police Office and Inspector General of Police Jagdish Bhatt were suspended for allegedly torturing witness and destroying evidence.  The Home Ministry had dismissed SP Bista and Inspector Bhatt after they were accused of destroying evidence concerning Nirmala Pant.

The cabinet, which has been waiting for a court decision, is now under pressure to make a decision regarding the reinstatement.  Home Ministry spokesperson Kedar Nath Sharma said that nothing could be said without the court’s decision.

The body of 13-year-old girl Nirmala was found in a sugarcane field in Bhimdatta Municipality in 2018. The cabinet was informed that the evidence was destroyed due to the negligence of the local police.

After an investigation by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), local Dilip Singh Bista was accused but he was released after his DNA differed. Dilip had filed a case against the police officer alleging that he was tortured in custody.
