Nepali worker fighting for life in hospital in India

Dipayal, Oct. 15 – A Nepali migrant worker has been battling for his life in a hospital in Ben- galuru, India. He has been in a coma for five days and is unable to avail of the proper medical treatment due to financial constraints. His family is pleading for financial assistance for his treatment.

Tilak Jora, 29, from Shikhar Munici- pality-3 in Doti district, has been admit- ted to Manipal Hospital on Sarjapur Main Road, Bengaluru, for five days but is not able to receive proper treatment due to financial limitations.

Jora, who had been working in Ben- galuru, went missing on the night of October 11. His family began search- ing for him, and after two days, they reported to the local police that he was missing.

The local police informed them that he had been found seriously injured and was admitted to a private hos- pital. He had sustained severe inju- ries to his head, chest, and lungs, requiring urgent surgery and treat- ment. Since then, Jora has been on a ventilator.

The hospital informed Jora’s rel- atives that his treatment would cost between Rs.2 to 2.5 million, said Ganesh

Balayar, his brother-in-law. In just four days, the hospital bill has already reached IC 650,000, leaving his family in a dire financial crisis.

Balayar shared the family’s pre- dicament, stating, “We are unable to pay even the initial medical bills. We wanted to transfer him to a govern- ment hospital, but we cannot clear the pending bills.”

“We’re in serious trouble. The hospi- tal says he can be saved if we pay the money. That’s why we are asking for help,” he added. His wife, Radha, and two children are waiting anxiously out- side the hospital.

The family is appealing for finan- cial support to save Jora, as the hospi- tal has refused to continue treatment without payment. Radha, in tears, said, “We have no money for treat- ment, and I don’t know how we can save him. We are in a foreign land fac- ing a huge crisis, and we desperately need help.”

His relatives have raised concerns over the lack of investigation into how Jora sustained these severe injuries. Nepali workers in the area have also expressed frustration with the police, accusing them of avoiding further inquiries into the case. Tilak Jora’s family is pleading for urgent assistance from anyone who can help cover the medical expenses required to save his life.
